Halloween Buffet

One of my favorite things to do to prepare for our Halloween party is planning and preparing a great Halloween buffet. I try to make everything on the table some kind of Halloween food. Everyone loves it and I think it really adds to the atmosphere.

Here are a few examples of some of the things we do...

Serpent Stromboli: Using pizza dough, stuff these snakes with sausage/cheese or pepperoni/cheese, make cuts in the top for the scales and eyes and use a pepperoni for the tongue. Bake according to pizza dough directions and have a "blood" pizza sauce on the side to dip the slices in. I had my guests cut off sections as they wanted. These go FAST...people love them.

Caramel Corn: Who doesn't love caramel corn?! I put some in a glass bowl and put the rest in clear lightweight gloves with white Jordan almonds for fingernails. I put some around the bowl at the table. Not only did they make the table look good... but guests got to take them home!

Spider no-bake cookies: These fun guys are easy to make using a chocolate no bake cookie recipe and chinese noodles for legs. I only put two legs on each side because more than that seemed crowded. I dotted royal icing for eyes.

Tombstone/coffin cookies: Use your favorite chocolate sugar cookie recipe or buy premade dough at the store. These can be doubled up with a marshmallow creme filling or just a single cookie. Bake and ice with icing that hardens and you've got yummy coffins or tombstone cookies.

Halloween glasses are a great thing to use for things like Black & Orange M&Ms or nuts and set them around for people to snack from. Halloween mugs are great for skinny bread sticks or pretzel rods with the ends dipped in chocolate and rolled in Halloween sprinkles.
You could even make little signs to put in front of each dish to tell people what's on the menu. Stickers for various sizes of drink bottles are a great addition.
