I purchased red, white, blue and rainbow glowbys. The red was nice but the white stood out the most as far as brightness. We clipped them in our hair for night time Christmas parades and events, then again for new Year's Eve and will also use them for 4th of July. They take button batteries that are replaceable. The only thing is the strands are thin, so if you want a lot of glow you need to purchase a lot. But they are very cool. The rainbow, although it changes colors which is nice, was also not quite as bright as I would have liked it to have been, and even seemed a bit thinner than the others. But I would recommend them, anyway. There's a little wire/metal clip (like on the back of a cheap barrette) that clips it into your hair. You just have to be careful what you do and where you lean as you don't want to break the fiber optic strands. They will bend and then break off. I submitted a photo wearing one red, one white before a parade.
