Halloween, 2011 Malice in Wonderland
All right, this is a cute idea. I don't know if I completely blame the makers of this costume for this stupid looking costume. Because it's basically just the Alice in Wonderland costume, but in black. However, that makes you look like a french maid. On the other hand, with some proper accessorizing, this could double as a french maid and an alice in wonderland costume! More bang for your buck, I guess.
Anyway, please note, you CANNOT wear this costume straight out of the bag. It doesn't look anything like Alice in Wonderland. I would have thrown it out had my husband not already bought a gothic mad hatter costume. I am a size 0-2, and the small was several sizes too big (I feel when I was 50 lbs heavier, I could've still fit in a small).
I spent 2 hours altering the too big chest (and I am a D cup) and the waist, the costume is huge. So if you can wear an XS in anything, don't bother with this costume unless you are handy with a needle.
Also, you will need a petticoat! Otherwise you will look flat and lumpy and weird in the skirt. I bought a red one, which splashed in some color and went well with the black and white.
I sewed on playing cards to the white part (what looks like the apron), added a headband with a hair clip that had a little hat on it, two red and black checkered bows on the top of the chest, and it actually ended up being really cute, and it was obvious what I was supposed to be.
If you don't mind the hours of work to make this costume look cute, then I'd recommend. If you are looking for a wear out of the bag costume, this is not for you!!!
The quality of the costume itself is actually pretty decent, I am betting you could get several times of use out of it, which does make it worth the money. However, I bought this costume for 20.00, and would not have paid 40 for it.
Also, the dark mad hatter costume is RAD, and wear out of the bag ready - so with some work, this is a super cute couples costume.
