This patch was bought to use in a local theater production of "How I Became A Pirate". Since I didn't want to do the whole show with no depth perception, this patch was just the style I was looking for. As other reviews have mentioned, this patch forms to your face, leaving little room for your eyelashes to move. The real problem seems to lie in the elastic band, If it were a ribbon instead of elastic, the fabric would not stretch and form so tightly to the face. The fabric patch does let you see, however, and the materials from which this was made are able to take a little "enhancing". The "frame" of the patch is a heavy card stock, around which is glued the fabric and a thin felt cushion. First, I removed the gold trim, as my pirate character is not one to have such "frills". I cut the top of the oval off of the patch, and used a little strip of rigid foam (from a cell phone case insert) to form a flatter bridge across the top. That extra width across the top keeps the patch further away from the eye socket, and, ultimately, easier on the eye! The foam bridge was attached with super glue, and the exposed edges were filled in with a magic marker. I'm thinking of removing the elastic, and attaching a thicker ribbon using the same super glue, but for now it will do. Overall, it's a good sturdy patch, and if you have basic arts and crafts skills, you can improve it to your liking! **You can only post two photos on the review, so I chose the before and after pics.
