Decent Costume for Price
Jan 28 2011
For the price paid this is a decent costume. I am usually hesitant to buy “one-size-fits-all” items as I am at the heavy end of “All” (a bottom heavy 5’6”, 160 lbs). Accept for being a little tight in the hips/thighs and extremely short, this costume actually fits really well. I will definitely have to wear either a pair of shorts or tights under it as there is no way that it is covering the bits I don’t particularly want to display to the world (tall women beware!). The torso fits perfectly – there is a gathered stretch area in the back that will allow it to expand or contract as needed for a good fit.
As for quality - The material is very light weight, which is not necessarily a con, simply something to be aware of. When I first took it out of the package I was concerned that it would be too see-through, however once the costume was on it was totally fine. The only other concern that I had was that the stitching that keeps the net overlay attached to the skirt had come apart on one side. This was a quick fix with a needle and thread so not a huge concern.
Note that the “headpiece” is simply a headband with velcro closure. I will definitely be doing some embellishing.
If you’re looking for a good costume that will give you a starting point, this one is a winner. It is comfortable to wear as the material is soft and a bit stretchy. Because the fabric is light, if you’re planning to wear it to a party with a lot of people you aren’t going to overheat. I love the amount of detailing on the torso. The fabric is also slightly ruched which is great if you're self-conscious about your mid-section. It also has a full back (it is not low cut).
