Have you heard the story of little Mary Davis? She grew up in your neighborhood in the late 1940's. Her father was a war hero and her mother was a former beauty queen. She was a beautiful little girl, with big blue eyes and long brown hair. One night, in the late summer of 1949, she disappeared. Her parents tucked her into bed, and the next morning she was nowhere to be found. The war hero and the former beauty queen were obviously very distraught; little Mary was prone to fits of sleepwalking, but she had never left the house before. Her beloved teddy bear Mr. Tickles also wasn’t found in her bed, and she took him absolutely everywhere. Somehow, the parents took solace in this; little Mary believed that Mr. Tickles was her protector, and would keep her safe from the monsters under her bed. A search party was formed and an APB was put out for a four-year old girl wearing a faded floral print nightgown and carrying a stuffed animal. No one could find her, so the police brought in bloodhounds, and they tracked her through the woods behind the playground, through the meadow and down to the river. That’s where the trail went cold. It was as if she just walked into the water. Her body was never found. You never heard that story? Wow. That’s odd, considering that you live in the house she disappeared from sixty-five years ago. And, if her ghost was going to roam the earth, it would probably be haunting this precise spot. But that’s silly, everyone knows that ghosts aren’t real, except that now she’s HANGING RIGHT BEHIND YOU.
