Quick Tip: DIY Daenerys Targaryen Game of Thrones Costume
Brace yourself, Winter is coming.
Of course, by Winter, we really mean Halloween. There’s less than a week to go! Also, if you hadn’t heard, Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones was recently dubbed the “sexiest woman alive” by Esquire magazine.
By proxy, that makes Daenerys Targaryen the world’s sexiest Halloween costume idea. How can you not want to be Khaleesi? With the right costume accessories, it’s easy to put together a last-minute DIY Daenerys Targaryen costume, too. If you’re a Game of Thrones fan who’s also a fan of procrastination, then this quick costume idea tutorial is for you:
How to make a DIY Daenerys Targaryen / Khaleesi Costume
For this self-assembled DIY Halloween costume, we’re emulating the most famous Khaleesi look of all, with her white robes and golden jewelry.
You can get the look of the base outfit with any sort of white dress that you already have, or even with a toga costume. Then, we suggest adding something like this sheer white cape, to build up Khaleesi’s “ethereal look” in layers.
Then, pair that with a pair of golden shoes. These gold heels feature a series of straps that travel all the up to the knee, for a definite Game of Thrones-inspired, fantasy sort of look. Or, in a pinch, grab a cheapo pair of heels from the thrift store and hit them with some gold spray paint.
One of the most important and recognizable parts of Daenerys’ look is her hairstyle. If you’re not a natural blonde, then this wig is the easiest way to emulate it. Or, if you’re interested in learning how to recreate Daenerys’ braids for real, then here’s a short Game of Thrones hair tutorial we found that should be absolutely perfect.
